Pendulum wave
Why 24 Pendulums Always Come Back in Sync
The pendulum wave, explained. Each pendulum completes a whole number of swings per minute — 51, 52 … 74 — so after 60 seconds they all arrive home together. The "wave" in between is just those fractions adding up along the row. No chaos. Just counting.
The rule
Pendulums of slightly different lengths drift out of step, draw waves, and fall back into line.
